Sen. Ayotte: “Confident” deal will pass in Senate; Boehner – “bring it up for a vote”

October 18, 2013

macthefloorguy:

Isn’t it amazing that the vote was 288-to about 144. I thought John Boehner said there was no way he could get 217 votes without defunding Obamacare. Slick Huckster Rafael Theodore “ted” Cruz, let the cat out of the bag a couple of weeks ago. He said, if Obama care gets started, I’m afraid people are going to like it (Like Medicare and Social security) and we will never be able to get rid of it.” If that happens, and I think it’s going to, the Republicans are going to look like total idiots for stopping progress at every turn for the last 4 years just so they could try and kill Obama care, It’s going to make the republicans look like they were nothing but waterboys for insurance companies, nursing homes, hospitals, the drug lobby, etc which have been ripping the heads off Americans for the last 40 years The CEO of United Health isn’t going to make a $98 million bonus based on profit this year, since Obama care limits insurance company markup for SHUFFLING PAPER TO 20% ABOVE ACTUAL CLAIMS PAID. The insurance companies no longer have an incentive to refuse to pay claims, or delay them, but they claim that 20% markup just isn’t enough. The “Inefficient government run healthcare system” (Medicare) operates on a budget of 4% above claims paid, and the insurance companies can’t live on 500% more than the government can operate Medicare on? I wish I could buy insurance direct from the government, but the insurance companies were NEVER going to let that happen. They backed Obama care, because they stand to gain 50 million new customers. I can’t believe that some HERO in congress was able to pass the 80/20 rule, which ALREADY saved policy holders $250 Billion by mid July of last year. The day the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare was legal, Sec Sebelius held a press conference about 90 minutes later and ORDERED the 5% of insurance companines which ignored the law and charged customers based on their old rate structure to REFUND $12.5 BILLION directly to consumers. This is the “Penalty is the same as a tax” issue that Justice Roberts INCORRECTLY referred to. This money was NEVER collected by the government. It was written into the law to protect consumers from price gouging by insurance companies. In Oklahoma, Blue Cross was the biggest offender. Does ANYBODY believe that Blue Cross would have refunded the money they overcharged if the government had not forced them to do it? What the heck is wrong with that?

The Signature issue that voters approved when they voted Obama President with the highest vote total in history in 2008, and re elected him comfortably in 2012.

Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) stressed that “we cannot default,” it will be “unacceptable” if no deal is reached by Thursday deadline, and she was never an advocate for defunding Obamacare to fund the government, which was never “a winning strategy.” She told “New Day” Anchor that she is “confident” that a deal will pass in the Senate and wants Speaker Boehner to bring it up for a vote in the House.

“I think people are so sick of governing by crisis,” Senator Ayotte said. “I actually hope that if we’re going to do a budget conference that we resolve this on behalf of the nation, a larger fiscal agreement. If not, I think that we can’t have this happen again. So there has to be a resolution up front on what the funding for the government is going to be so that we’re not ever in a position where we…

AC360 Video: Rep. Peter King to Anderson Cooper: Sen. Ted Cruz is a “false prophet.”

October 18, 2013

macthefloorguy:

About 25% of the time, Peter King makes sense. Of course, there aren’t enough insane hillbillies in New York to elect a hard liner Tea Party nut. He can say crazy stuff part of the time, and get by with it., but he has to sound like a sane person once in a while. Maybe he’s just playing both sides of the fence, knowing that he could never win running as a total ignorant bigot.

New York Republican Congressman Peter King takes aim at both parties after a possible budget deal collapses in the House. As the clock ticks down to the debt ceiling deadline, Rep. King tells Anderson he has never seen gridlock this bad in Washington. He unleashes his harshest criticism on Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who he called a “false prophet.”

Robert Redford on Washington Gridlock: “There is a body of Congressional people that want to paralyze the system”

October 18, 2013

macthefloorguy:

Robert Redford is right on. A lot of the issue is a bunch of racists were given a ton of money to do the bidding for the top 2%. I thought it was funny that yesterday, the Koch brothers sent a letter to EVERY SENATOR, saying Dear SENATOR (not Senator McConnell, etc, just Senator) which was a subtle message “look you dumb piece of sh.t, we’ve had fun with this but you are about to cost your SPONSORS Billions of dollars because what you are doing could well send the world economy into a depression” If the world economy craashes, who is going to be able to buy our toilet paper, or corning ware, or Georgia Pacific lumber, or our gasoline, or our fertilizer, or our chemicals, or our prostitutes in the Northern Marianis Islands, and those prostitutes and the casino next door put millions of dollars into YOUR “family values” campaigns. Enough is enough. Love, Dave and Chuck Koch
The next day, all of a sudden what had been extremely close votes in the senate turned into an 82-18 landslide. Amazing,,isn’t it.?

Sen. McCain: Government won’t shut down again; Pres. Obama won

October 18, 2013

macthefloorguy:

Some days I really like John McCain, when he’s not in an angry old man mood. Today, I like John. However, I think the Senator underestimateth the INSANITY within his party. When McConnell and 11 of his political friends met on Obama’s inaurguration eve, I think they caught some sort of nasty brain eating virus and took it back to the Senate and the House and infected damn near every member of their party.

Originally posted on CNN Press Room:

On “New Day,” Senator John McCain (R-AZ) guaranteed that the government will not shut down again, predicting that the Senate and House will reach a budget deal hopefully “for a year,” but not without a “fight” within the Republican party. He told CNN Anchor Kate Bolduan that President Obama won and he will engage now if he wants to be a successful president.

Speaking on the public’s low approval of government, Senator McCain joked that even is mother has lost faith. “Look at what the American people’s view of us is. I have this line that I use all the time. We’re down to blood relatives and paid staffers. I got a call from my mother who’s hundred and one [years old]. I just lost one of the blood relatives.”

Speaking of the differences within the Republican party, Sen. McCain said, “At the end of the day, we’ve got to…
